Artificial intelligence (AI) is impacting almost all areas of legal, social, and economic life. Its effects are not evenly distributed, however, nor are they uniformly positive. Industry standards that guide the design and implementation of AI systems are an under-explored tool for ensuring and maximizing AI benefits. Join us on January 24 as we bring together legal scholars to examine how industry standards can address key issues in various domains—from criminal justice to self-driving cars—as well as the benefits and limitations of relying on them to regulate AI systems.
