Law for Black Lives, the Advocacy for Racial and Civil (ARC) Justice Clinic, and BLSA hosted a CLE event on October 25, 2023, titled “Free to Be Us.” The panel focused on how lawyers and organizers are advocating to ensure dignity and respect for students of all backgrounds in schools. Panelists considered legal and organizing strategies for combating a hostile environment, including efforts to challenge book banning, harassment based on race and sex, and overly punitive, criminalized school discipline based on race and immigration status.
