The Future of Copyright Law - The CASE Act and Beyond
1.5 substantive credits
When Congress passed COVID-19 relief at the end of 2020, it also enacted the Copyright Alternative in Small-Claims Enforcement Act (CASE Act). The Act created the Copyright Claims Board as an alternative venue to resolve small claims of copyright infringement. However, skeptics fear that the Act, rather than resolving existing complications with online copyright infringement, will instead harm everyday users of the Internet. The panel of distinguished experts will discuss implications of the CASE Act as well as potential developments in copyright law, such as Senator Thom Tillis’s proposal of the Digital Copyright Act (DCA).
